General

MyFinPal is built solo by Shivputra Neelakandan, also known online as spxandroid — a Product Manager and vibe coder based in Chennai, India. He designs, builds and ships the app end-to-end without a team.

No. MyFinPal doesn't require bank logins or screen-scraping. It reads transaction SMS you already receive (with your permission) or lets you log entries manually — everything is processed on your device.

By default, no. All data is stored locally with AES encryption. Cloud backup is an optional, off-by-default feature — if you enable it, your backup is encrypted before it ever leaves your device.

It's a single computed number: all your assets minus your liabilities and outstanding debts. Instead of tracking a dozen numbers, you track one that moves as your finances change.

Yes. Basic is free forever. It includes everyday finance tools such as expense and income tracking, savings goals, the net-worth dashboard, group expense split, Calendar and Projections, SMS Auto-Sync, and a limited amount of AI chat. Pro is an early-access tier for additional tools.

MyFinPal is in active development by a solo Android developer. Join the waitlist above and you'll be the first to know when it's available.

Getting Started

Start on Home to see your financial snapshot. Then open Menu and add the information that matters to you: expenses, income, savings, assets, debts, bills, budgets and goals. You can begin manually and enable optional permissions only when you want them.

Open Menu → Assets. Add the assets you want included, such as cash, savings or other holdings, with a value and description. MyFinPal calculates net worth as recorded assets minus recorded liabilities and outstanding debts.

Yes. You can enter income, expenses, savings, assets, debts, bills and goals manually. SMS access is optional and is intended only to help identify supported transaction or bill messages on your device.

Features & Customization

Pluto can help you review a financial snapshot, understand spending and budget context, and prepare quick actions such as adding an expense, income entry, savings goal, bill or budget. Any change is shown for your review and confirmation before it is saved.

Yes. Open Menu → Group Split to create a group, add participants, record a shared expense and keep track of each person’s share. It is designed for situations such as trips, shared homes or group meals.

MyFinPal includes calculators for compound interest, SIP, CAGR, EMI, loan amortization, debt payoff, retirement planning, FIRE, NPV and IRR. Use results as planning estimates, not as personalised investment or financial advice.

Yes. MyFinPal includes Dark, Light and E-Ink theme options. Choose the view that feels most comfortable for your device and reading environment.

On Home, tap the tune icon in the top-right corner to open Customize Home. You can reorder Home sections, show or hide individual widgets, choose an Essentials layout, or show all available widgets. Save your changes when the layout feels right for you.

Smart Alerts are MyFinPal’s action inbox for timely items such as bills, budgets, debt, savings, backup setup and pending SMS reviews. On Home, tap the bell icon to open alerts and use its switch to pause or resume them. If Android notifications are off, allow MyFinPal notifications in your device settings to receive alerts.

Expenses

Open Menu → Expenses and use the add action to enter the amount, category, date and a helpful note. You can also review supported transaction SMS with your permission before adding them to your records.

My Expenses is the place to review recorded outflows and transaction activity. Its Overview, Expenses, Categories and Insights tabs help you inspect individual records, organise categories and understand spending patterns.

In My Expenses, use search to find a description or category. Use filters to narrow records by type, category or date range, and use Sort to order results by newest date, oldest date, highest amount, lowest amount or category.

My Expenses is an activity view, not only a shopping log. It can show expenses alongside investments, transfers and self-transfers, so you can review money moving out of an account in one place. Use the type filter when you want to focus on one kind of record.

Open My Expenses → Categories. You can search and sort categories, add a custom category, and merge custom categories when you want to consolidate their transactions under a single category.

Open the Insights tab in My Expenses to review category-wise breakdowns and trend charts. Use it to spot the categories or recent entries that are contributing most to your spending.

Yes. In My Expenses, use Export Statement to create a private file from the transactions currently on screen. You can export a CSV spreadsheet for Excel or Google Sheets, or a PDF statement for sharing or record keeping.

Open the relevant transaction in My Expenses to edit its details or delete it. You can also long-press transactions to select multiple records for bulk deletion; deletion cannot be undone, so review the selection first.

Income

Open Menu → Income to record money coming in, or Menu → Savings to record money set aside. Use categories and notes so your dashboard and cash-flow picture remain easy to understand.

My Income helps you record and understand money coming in. Its dashboard, income-entry, category and analytics views show income totals, source breakdowns, active-versus-passive mix, trends and cash-flow context.

Open Menu → Income and use the add action. Select a category such as Salary, Business or Passive, then enter the amount and date before saving the income entry.

MyFinPal lets you classify income as active or passive so the Income dashboard can show the mix. Use the type that best describes the source of the recorded entry; this categorisation helps you understand how diversified your income is.

In My Income, use the date-range control to choose a start and end date. The income totals and active/passive breakdown then reflect the selected period instead of the current month.

The Analytics view shows month-by-month income trends, active and passive income split, source categories and income-versus-expense context. Use it to review changes in earnings and identify entries that still need classification.

Income categories identify where your money comes from, such as salary, business or passive sources. Consistent categories make the source breakdown and analytics more useful, and help you review the strongest contributors over time.

MyFinPal compares recorded income with recorded expenses to present cash-flow context. Keep entries and dates accurate so the dashboard and Income analytics reflect the period you want to review.

Budget

Open Menu → Budget and set a planned amount for the categories you want to control. As expenses are recorded, MyFinPal compares category spending with your plan so you can spot where you are on track or over budget.

My Budget is your monthly spending plan. It brings together budgeted amounts, actual spending, remaining amount, categories, trend views and budget insights so you can see whether each part of your plan is on track.

Open Menu → Budget and use the add action. Give the category a name, icon, colour and monthly spending limit, then save it. MyFinPal uses that limit to compare planned spending with recorded spending.

Each budget category shows the amount spent, the planned limit and what remains. Colour-coded progress makes the state easier to scan: a category turns red when recorded spending goes over its budget.

MyFinPal can alert you when spending reaches 80% and 100% of a category limit. Keep app notifications enabled in Settings and allowed in Android device settings to receive those alerts.

Yes. Use the month controls in My Budget to move to a future month and set planned category amounts before that month begins. This keeps future planning separate from current-month spending.

Budget Insights highlights spending momentum, category shares, over-budget categories, recent budget success and suggested areas to review. It uses your recorded category and monthly history to make the budget screen easier to act on.

The 50/30/20 view compares recorded allocation with the familiar needs, wants and savings framework: 50% for needs, 30% for wants and 20% for savings. Treat it as a planning reference, not personalised financial advice.

Yes. Open a budget category to change its details or remove it, and use the sort control to review categories by name, highest spending, lowest remaining amount or over-budget status. Review before deleting because the action cannot be undone.

Debts & EMIs

Open Menu → Debts to add each loan, card balance or EMI commitment. Keep the outstanding amount and payment details current so the debt view and your net-worth calculation stay useful.

My Debts is your loan and EMI command centre. It shows active debt total, monthly EMI amount, repayments due soon, individual loan progress, categories, payment history and debt insights.

Open Menu → Debts and use the add action. Enter the lender, debt type, loan amount, amount already paid, EMI and interest details where relevant, then set the next due date and save.

Open the relevant debt in My Debts and choose Log Payment. Enter the payment amount, date and optional note. A successful payment updates the debt record and is recorded as a linked expense for a consistent money history.

When logging a payment, mark it as bounced only if it was returned or failed. A bounced payment does not reduce the outstanding balance, helping MyFinPal keep the debt position accurate.

My Debts highlights due-soon and overdue repayment status on debt cards and offers a Due soon filter. Active EMI commitments can also appear in the Financial Calendar and Smart Alerts when notifications are enabled.

Yes. Filter the debt list to view all, due-soon, active or closed records. Sort by highest or lowest outstanding balance, soonest due date or highest interest rate to focus your review.

Foreclosing marks a debt as closed after it has been settled. It removes the loan from active repayment focus while preserving its record and payment history for your reference.

MyFinPal protects debt history that is linked to payments or loan records. Remove or unlink the related records first when appropriate, so the app does not leave your financial history inconsistent.

Savings & Goals

Open Menu → Goals and create a target with a name, amount and target date. Record contributions as you save to see progress and decide whether your pace needs adjusting.

My Savings is where you record money set aside and review your saving activity. Its dashboard, history and analytics views show your savings balance, monthly activity, category allocation, active goals and contribution trends.

Open Menu → Savings and use Add Savings. Enter the amount, choose a savings category and source account, add a note, select the date, then save. You can also link the contribution to a savings goal.

When adding or editing a savings entry, switch it to Withdrawal, choose the destination account and give a clear reason. The withdrawal reduces the related savings activity so the recorded balance remains meaningful.

Savings records the money movement; Goals gives that money a target. Link a savings contribution to a goal to see how much has been contributed and how quickly progress is moving toward the target.

Yes. When you add a savings entry, use the recurring option and choose the frequency that fits the contribution. This is useful for regular saving habits such as a monthly deposit.

Savings entries can be recorded as cleared or pending. Use pending when a transfer or deposit has not completed yet, then keep the status current so your Savings dashboard distinguishes confirmed activity from money still in progress.

In Savings history, search by note or category, filter by date range or category, and sort the results by date, amount or category. Use Export to create a CSV file of the filtered entries for your own records.

My Savings provides a statement-import option and supports selecting a relevant SMS when adding a savings entry. Review the amount, date, category and account before saving any imported information.

Bills & Subscriptions

Open Menu → Bills. Add recurring bills manually, or use optional SMS sync to identify supported bill-payment messages. Review detected information before relying on it and use the screen to keep upcoming commitments visible.

My Bills helps you track recurring payments such as rent, utilities, subscriptions and EMIs. It shows active commitments, upcoming due dates, payment status, categories and recurring-cost insights in one place.

Open Menu → Bills and use the add action. Enter the bill name, amount, category, due day and billing frequency, then save. Use it for recurring payments such as rent, utilities, OTT subscriptions or loan EMIs.

Yes. In My Bills, use SMS Sync to look for supported bill-related messages. Review the detected name, category, amount and due day before adding selected bills. SMS permission is required and remains optional.

Open the bill card in My Bills to manage its current cycle status or edit its details. You can mark the current cycle paid and use the active control to pause a bill that is no longer running without losing its record.

My Bills highlights commitments due within the next seven days and shows their due-date status on each card. Smart Alerts and notifications can help bring upcoming payments to your attention when they are enabled.

Yes. Filter bills by category and use Sort to review them by nearest due date, highest amount, name or category. Search is useful when you want to quickly find a particular subscription or provider.

Overview summarises active recurring commitments, due-soon items and paid status. Categories groups bills by type, while Statistics helps you understand recurring cost by category, frequency and the largest commitments.

Yes. Open a bill to update its amount, category, due day, frequency or notes. You can also remove bills, including multiple selected bills, but review the action carefully because deletion cannot be undone.

Financial Calendar

Use the Calendar tab to see planned income, expenses, savings, debts and custom events by date. It is a practical way to look ahead at cash-flow commitments rather than discovering them only after they are due.

Open the Calendar tab and use the add action. Enter an event title, choose a category, add an optional amount, select a date, and save it. Choose the Recurring event option when the same planned event repeats.

You can add income, expense, savings, debt and custom events. Giving planned financial events an amount helps the calendar present a clearer picture of upcoming cash flow.

Yes. When you add or edit a Calendar event, turn on Recurring event before saving. Use it for regular planned items that you want to keep visible over time.

Upcoming EMIs from active tracked debts can appear in the Financial Calendar automatically. These entries are managed by the related debt record, so update the debt details when its payment amount or due date changes.

Open the event in the Calendar and use Edit or Remove for events you created manually. Debt-linked EMI entries are managed by the debt record instead, so change them from Debts rather than deleting them in the Calendar.

Backup & Data

Open Profile → Backup & Sync. From there you can use the available backup, restore and export options, including an export file or CSV. Check what is included before you share or store an export.

In Profile → Settings → Data & Automation, turn on Automatic Private Backup after connecting Google Drive. The option uses your connected Google Drive; you can also use Backup & Sync for local exports, restore and backup controls.

Erase Local Data permanently removes MyFinPal records stored on that device. It does not automatically delete export files or backups that you previously saved to your own Google Drive, so manage those separately.

Settings & Profile

Open the Profile tab and tap the settings icon in the top-right corner. Settings groups account controls, appearance, swipe actions, notifications, data automation, privacy, backup and local-data options in one place.

Go to Profile → Settings → Account. Choose Edit Profile to update your details, or Security & Password to manage app-security options.

Yes. In Profile → Settings, use the Swipe Actions section to choose what a left or right swipe does on supported items. You can set each direction to Edit, Delete or None to match your preference.

Go to Profile → Settings → Data & Automation and open SMS Transaction Sync to review and import detected transactions. SMS access is optional; you can remove the permission at any time from Android device settings.

Go to Profile → Settings and use the Notifications switch in Preferences. Android notification permission must also be allowed in device settings before MyFinPal can deliver alerts.

Profile is your personal account summary. It shows your saved identity details, current plan status, transaction count, active goals and financial-health score, with quick access to edit details, QR code and Settings.

Open Profile and tap Edit, or go to Settings → Edit Profile. You can update your name, email, mobile number, gender and date of birth, then save your changes.

My QR Code is available from the top of the Profile screen. Family members can scan it to add you in MyFinPal, which helps with connected family features.

Your current plan appears on the Profile screen. If an upgrade is available, select the plan card or open Profile → Settings → Subscription to review the Pro option and its available features.

Profile is the account overview: your identity, plan and quick financial stats. Settings is where you change preferences and controls such as security, themes, notifications, SMS sync, backup and data management.
